More than 3 million American adults deal with long-term depression. Some handle symptoms with prescription medications while others simply ignore them. At NeuraPerformance Brain Center, we literally get to the core of depression so that patients can get back to enjoying life to the fullest. Our brain training experts use four core technologies to address depression safely and effectively, including neurofeedback.

How Neurofeedback Can Help

This type of biofeedback uses real-time displays of brain activity to teach self-regulation of brain function. Thanks to neurofeedback, the team at NeuraPerformance can then identify pathologies, deficits, or deviations from normal. From there, it’s on to devising a customized brain training regimen of neuro-conditioning exercises. Along with neuro-conditioning, neurofeedback can help significantly with depression.

Here’s how it works. You will sit in a comfortable chair, in a quiet room, in front of a computer screen. You will wear a cap that houses electrodes which are positioned to correspond to the areas of the brain you will be training based the plan developed from your initial scans. Rest assured that we never use a “cookie-cutter” approach to brain training.

Once you’re settled, a video with sounds will play on the screen. Your brain “responds” as you watch and, consequently, you will receive visual and auditory reinforcement based on responses. Let’s look at an example. You may be “driving a car” on the screen and your brain responses will determine whether or not the car stays on the road. The better you do with the exercise, the more visual and auditory “rewards” you receive. It may seem like an easy task, but neurofeedback and conditioning ultimately lead to overall better brain performance, normalized behavior, stabilized mood, and enhanced well-being.

Don’t let depression or anxiety get the best of you any longer. Schedule your initial consultation and get back to your old self.
